Quilting the Oregon Trail

Sheesh! The new block of the month club started back in September, and I haven't even posted about it yet! Slacker, and a half!

This year the theme is the Oregon Trail, one of the main overland migration routes of the United States in their efforts to take over the country. All of the blocks have something to do with the Oregon Trail. We had three different colorways we can choose from: Aunt Gracie's, Civil War, and neutrals. Well, The neutrals are browns and tans and golds, which are nice, but I wanted something with a little bit more color. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the Aunt Gracie prints. And I figured that the Oregon Trail and Civil War were contemporaries in American history, so it could work out well. So Civil War fabrics it is.

Here are the blocks so far:

September - Kansas City Dugout

October - Farmer's Daughter

November - Wagon Tracks

December - Whirlwind

There are four blocks of each pattern that will finish at 6" square. I'm already thinking of how I'll put them together. I'll keep you updated!

I like Wagon Tracks, especially the way you can see that simpler squares come together to look like something more complicated. However, after staring at it for too long, I think it looks like hot dogs.
